16	LukasKim	Nordkapptunnel	Trail - The North Cape Tunnel North Entrance The tunnel has automatic antifreezing doors (Norwegian: kuldeport) which close the mouths of the tunnel in the winter to avoid the freezing of any leaking water. These gates open automatically when cars approach and are permanently open in the summer, when traffic is denser. (Source: Wikipedia 23) The tunnel has two sidewalks, one on each side, which are wide enough for hikers. The noise from the turbines inside the tunnel is very loud, as is the noise from traffic. We recommend wearing earplugs to protect your hearing. There are no toilets in the tunnel so do your business before and after passing through. Reflective vest and headlamp can be used for extra security, but there are lamps inside the tunnel. Trail - The North Cape Tunnel North Entrance The tunnel has automatic antifreezing doors (Norwegian: kuldeport) which close the mouths of the tunnel in the winter to avoid the freezing of any leaking water. These gates open automatically when cars approach and are permanently open in the summer, when traffic is denser. (Source: Wikipedia 23) The tunnel has two sidewalks, one on each side, which are wide enough for hikers. The noise from the turbines inside the tunnel is very loud, as is the noise from traffic. We recommend wearing earplugs to protect your hearing. There are no toilets in the tunnel so do your business before and after passing through. Reflective vest and headlamp can be used for extra security, but there are lamps inside the tunnel. There are emergency rooms all along the tunnel as well as SOS phones, should something happen. - Source: LukasKim
